If you or someone you know is a young person in Nova Scotia seeking treatment for depression, contact the TIDE team for more information. There is no obligation to join after reaching out.

What is TIDE?
TIDE stands for Treatment Interrupts Depression Early.

Depression can affect people of all ages, but we know that it is most commonly
experienced for the first time during adolescence, as a young person is approaching
adulthood. We also know that the way depression is experienced (how it feels, the impact it
has, and how it progresses over time) varies from person to person. Many treatment options
exist to manage depression, but no single treatment works for everyone. Often, several
treatments need to be tried before finding the one that works.
TIDE is a research study that provides treatment for depression.

Our goal is to find out which treatment works best for different young people experiencing
depression for the first time by collecting information, providing treatment, and keeping track
of how our participants fare over time. If clinicians have the ability to predict which treatment
is most likely to work for someone seeking treatment, we can help people recover from
depression with the first treatment they try.
TIDE aims to determine what factors might predict recovery using different forms
of treatment to simplify and improve depression treatment choice.

What traits might determine whether someone is going to benefit from a one style of treatment versus another? To find out, eligible young people experiencing depression for the first time
receive highest quality, established treatments for depression. The data we collect from
TIDE participants will help researchers answer these questions with the aim of benefitting
young people experiencing depression in the future.
